AFTER DECADE BIRTHDAY BASH TO RETURN February 19, 2016 / by John "Stoney" Cannon After a decade the James Brown Birthday Bash is making a return to Augusta featuring members of the Godfather's original backing band. Thanks to Friends with Benefits Fund Founder George Claussen, Coco Rubio (a long-time Brown fan and creator of downtown venues the Soul Bar and Sky City), Brown's daughter Deanna Brown Thomas, and one of Brown's last guitarists Keith Jenkins, the event will return to help celebrate what would have been the music icon's 83rd birthday on May 3rd. Claussen recently told WRDW News "We'll have the original James Brown band with some sit ins that I can't announce right now, but it's gonna be really special. Something the whole community can get behind," Event planners will announce the concert lineup and ticket information in early March.
