MORE SHOWS ADDED TO FULL ARENA CALENDER
May 24th, 2016 / by John Stoney Cannon

The Augusta Entertainment Complex has been hard at work and they don't seem to be letting up! Shows, concerts, comedy and more are in store for the area at both Bell Auditorium and the James Brown Arena.

According to the Gospel Herald, "singer Kirk Franklin dominated the gospel categories during the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas Sunday evening," taking home the Top Gospel Song Award for "Wanna Be Happy?" plus two awards for Top Gospel Artist and Top Gospel Album associated with his latest release, "Losing My Religion."

On June 3rd Franklin will kick off the second leg of his current tour at the James Brown Arena and this is just the start of what looks to be a busy late spring / summer for both Augusta venues.

June 17 the legendary Frankie Valli and the Four Season visit Augusta and with 71 chart hits (including 40 in the Top 40, 19 in the Top 10 and eight No. 1s) from the 60's and into the 70's including “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Walk Like a Man,” “Rag Doll,” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” and many other tunes as popular as ever due to broadway smash and movie "Jersey Boys", this is sure to be one incredible Bell show.

Paving the way for future boys bands such as N-Sync, Back Street Boys, 98 Degrees and even New Kids On The Block, New Edition built up a loyal following, that backs the group til this day, 15 national tours, 18 multi-platinum albums, 4 American Music Awards, 14 number 1 records and countless Billboard Top 20 hits, and members have gone on to have additional side group and solo success. With a ton of hits to pull out, June 23rd at the Bell should be a singing, dancing great time!

He recently was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and in the process has blasted the Hall for its mistreatment of inductees but on July 19th classic rocker Steve Miller drops into the Bell for a night of fun rocking hits such as “The Joker,” “Livin in the USA,” “Take the Money and Run,” “Rock’n Me,” “Fly Like an Eagle,” “Jet Airliner,” “Jungle Love,” and “Abracadabra.”

Davy Jones may have passed away in 2012 and Mike Nesmith once again off the touring trail but the other half of the original Monkees - Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork - are bringing their 50th Anniversary Tour to The Bell Auditorium on Sunday, July 24 and proceeds will benefit United Way of the CSRA. I won't even begin to mention all of the groups hits other than to say, what could possibly be more fun than singing along with a bunch of folks to songs like "Daydream Believer" and "Last Train to Clarksville?"

The beginning of August brings the soul of Maxwell (August 6) and the classic rock of Boston (August 7) to the Bell and staff continue to work on events so keep an eye out for more upcoming events!!!!
